Marta Has been practicing yoga for over twenty years. Her first yoga class was in 1998, but a back injury in 2002 was the catalyst to begin a daily practice that eventually progressed into teaching yoga. Her passion for yoga combined with experience has led her to the profession of yoga therapy. As a yoga therapist she strives to provide yoga to all individuals of all abilities. The result she seeks for all of her yoga students and clients is to have a strong practice that leads to a happy and healthy lifestyle. Her goal is to give you tools to be relatively pain free without the reliance on medications.
Marta began her first teacher training in 2011 at Exhale Center for Sacred Movement with Annie Carpenter. She earned her 200 hour Yoga Alliance credentials and In 2014 she completed a 300 Hour Yoga teacher training at Yoga At The Village with Elyse Briggs and Carl Dawson. This training began her interest in the Iyengar tradition of using props and a rope wall for alignment and safety.
In June 2019 Marta graduated from the Loyola Marymount University Yoga Therapy Rx program for clinical certification. She is a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and holds an E-RYT 500 credential with Yoga Alliance. She provides volunteer yoga therapy services to patients at the Venice Family Clinic and sees clients in her studio.
When Marta is not practicing yoga, seeing clients or putting together educational workshops, she spends time studying yogic philosophy and the cultural aspects of yoga as therapy. This is a subject that is of keen interest to her as she has a MA in Anthropology and is furthering her study and research in this area. When there is a moment to relax, spending time in nature with her beloved rescue collie is one of her favorite past times.
